The Arvid Veidmarks were the first missionaries to join FEBC. Their job was to prepare the 12.5 acre site at Karuhatan (Valenzuela) about 2 miles north of the city limits of Manila. The tool of choice was this "JeepDozer" that Arvid used to clear the site in readiness for the construction of housing. The Veidmarks at first lived in U.S. Army housing, before moving to Karuhatan in May of 1947. The jeep was purchased in California (where the photo was taken prior to departure.
