Ayta Refugees at a Pampanga encampment (Philippines). FEBC mobilized local Christians to distribute aid to the thousands of people displaced by mudflows (lahar) caused by torrential rains on the slopes of Mt. Pinatubo in the years following the June, 1991 eruption. The Ayta tribes (also known as "Negritos") are a shy people, who found their forced evacuation to civilization extremely painful.
