A scene from downtown Manila. FEBC missionary (Jane Handlos?), takes a ride in a calesa. The influences of three foreign cultures are evident in the Spanish vehicle and wording on the signs (general headquarters for the Quirino-Lopez presidential election campaign), the Chinese shop, and the American WWII jeep which served as the basis of the famous Filipino jeepney, which in more modern forms still served 60 years later as the backbone of popular transportation in Manila.
