John Broger and Arvid Veidmark meet in Manila during John's visit there. Arvid is a Chaplain in the U.S. Army. Arvid agrees to return to the U.S., raise his support and return to the Philippines to clear the land for the construction of the proposed radio stations. They are standing beside a military landing craft that has been thrust onto the land by a typhoon. The building in the background is probably the Manila Hotel.
