John Broger poses for a photo in his US Naval officer uniform. John joined the navy in 1942 eventually serving on the aircraft carrier Bon Homme Richard as a radar specialist. He was eventually promoted to lieutenant and intelligence officer. It was when the ship returned to San Francisco in September of 1945 that the Robert Bowmans met with John and wife Dorothy in a room near the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel (Provided free for U.S. Officers) and made a pact to start up the radio organization.
