Missionaries arrive at the Manila docks via the SS City of Perth (Ellerman Shipping Company, UK). Personal baggage is being inspected; FEBC's Anacleto Lacanilao negotiates. 12-passenger freighters were commonly used by missionaries until the later 1950's. See also #1684. This freighter had an interesting history: The 485-foot City of Perth was out of New York bound for Adelaide, Australia on May 7, 1963 when it collided with and sank a smaller freighter "Pinta."
