
Paul Johnson and family, missionaries with the Christian Missionary Alliance. Paul was instrumental in the establishment of first Thai language broadcasts for FEBC, recording in Korat, transmitted from the Philippines. In 1952 he and his wife were murdered while conducting a church service in Ban Dong Mafai. The United Press reported the incident as follows:

BANGKOK, APRIL 23
AMERICAN MISSIONARY PAUL L. JOHNSON WHO WAS SHOT BY BANDITS LAST FRIDAY, DIED THIS MORNING. JOHNSON AND HIS WIFE, PRISCILLA WERE CONDUCTING RELIGIOUS SERVICES IN A SMALL CHURCH IN THE NORTHEASTERN PART OF THAILAND, WHEN NINE BANDITS ENTERED AND FIRED WITHOUT WARNING. MRS. JOHNSON DIED INSTANTLY, WHILE JOHNSON SERIOUSLY WOUNDED WAS FLOWN TO BANGKOK BY PLANE. HE LATER DIED OF HIS INJURIES. ROBBERY WAS THE MOTIVE.
