A rare photograph showing only FEBC's first two transmitters, DZAS (Local) and DZH6 (Short wave) in operation. Posing are Robert Bowman, John Broger, Richard Handlos, Richard Rowland. First short wave broadcasts to China began on July 29, 1949, at 6pm Manila time, on DZH6, 6030 kilocycles, fulfilling the first stage of the vision for broadcasting to China, two months before the Peoples Republic of China was declared, making it impossible to broadcast locally. This photograph exists in the Archive as a 120 format negative.
